It is an excellent reader app, and can download your books from your Skydrive I keep an "ebooks" folder on my Skydrive to use with the app , from free online resources like Feedbooks, or from a Calibre server on your PC. Setting up a Calibre server is more complicated than just throwing books in a Skydrive folder. Try the free version of Freda out and see if it meeds your needs, and if it does, throw the developer, Jim Chapman, a bone and upgrade to the ad-free version for a buck- he's very responsive to users via email and often helps people out with their eBook related questions in these forums.

This application does not really look or function like any of the other Kobo apps on the other platform. On most menus and even the main GUI there is no word even of Kobo at all.
